Restaurant Reviews and the Restaurants where Mommy Nose likes to go!

I am an extremely tough critic when it comes to food. I'm a chef myself indeed! So, if a restaurant gets 4 babies walking that's amazing!  The usual for very good restaurants is 2 babies walking. If the restaurant stinks then it gets a crying baby! Now that we all know the rules. check out the restaurants below!

THE BEST COFFEE HOUSE FOR KIDS

Swork is a fabulous new coffee house that has opened its doors in Silver Lake, Pasadena, and Monrovea. Their coffee, espressos and Latte's are exceptional, they have internet access, the place is hip with Suisse like feel to it and can you believe it?  It's completely child friendly!  They have an entire section in the coffee house for kids with baby furniture, train sets and toys included.

Who would think to put a place like this together? And it's not so baby obnoxious where I was feeling like I am drinking my latte at a daycare.  No, Swork is a chic little hang where your baby will feel welcome and you will feel like you are getting a caffeine break.

Urth Cafe

(310) 659-0628

8565 Melrose Ave, West Hollywood, CA

The Urth Cafe is a fantastic place for adults and babies and I am giving them 4 walking babies! They are the only restaurant on my list so far with this high of a rating and here is why ... Urth is serving it up all organic and free range all the time.  Their food is fresh and clean and delicious! The location on Melrose has an antique table in the bathroom that you can change your baby on!  Thank you Urth Cafe!  Finally a chic hang out that gets it!  The outdoor atmosphere is fun and thanks again to the people running this joint - SMOKING IS NOT TOLERATED ANYWHERE! THERE IS NO SMOKING ANYWHERE IN THE OUTDOOR SECTION!

Yes, finally there's a place you can go to get fresh organic food,  great drinks, fabulous desserts, and terrific atmosphere in an outdoor setting with out being poisoned by smokers at every turn.  They have valet parking so take it and sit back and relax and enjoy  - Oh! And yes, if you hang out at Urth long enough you are bound to spot quiet a few celebs.  It's one of the hottest spots in LA.

Sompun Restaurant

(818) 762-7861

12053 Ventura Pl, Studio City, CA 4.41 mi

The best Thai Cuisine in Los Angeles! I give Sompun 2 babies walking! . The food is fresh, clean and not over cooked like in many Thai restaurants. their green beans don't look like 800 year old aliens here!  They look fresh and young. Sompun is a family owned business with mama cooking in the kitchen. They love babies here and treat you like royalty when you come in with your child.  It's moderately priced, but if you don't watch out you'll spend about $40.00 or more for two here. The SPECIAL CHICKEN EGG ROLLS really are special and you will never find anything like them anywhere else in California or in the United States for that matter!  It's worth it to come in just to try them. I am only giving them 2 stars because they don't have a changing table in the bathrooms!  When they do I will up them a star.

Kung Pao Bistro

(818) 788-1689

15025 Ventura Blvd, Sherman Oaks, CA 4.04 mi

Kung Pao is the best Chinese Restaurant in the San Fernando Valley!  The food is fresh and not over cooked, the service is great and they like kids.  The two best dishes on the menu are the Pepper Chicken and the cubed Filet Mignon with Broccoli. This is the closest you can get to authentic New York Chinese in Los Angeles. Don't pass up the opportunity to take your kids here for lunch or dinner. On a more Hollywood note, I've spotted Cosmo Kramer from "Seinfield" eating dinner here more than once.   He seems to really like their food too!  Silly people have similar taste.
No changing table in the bathroom!

JACK AND JILL'S

310) 247-4500

342 N Beverly Dr, Beverly Hills, CA 0.31 mi

Jack & Jill's in Beverly Hills is a super fun restaurant smack dead center in the middle of Beverly Hills. The prices are very reasonable and the food is very good. Great salads, omelets, and chocolate pancakes. The place is very child friendly, but it does get crowded at lunch time so get there early or call for reservations in advance.  They are closed for dinner and now here is the bad news and why they only get two stars ..... NO CHANGING TABLE! ARE THEY NUTS OR JUST STUPID!  WISE UP PEOPLE!  GET A CLUE AND A CHANGING TABLE IN HERE ASAP!!!

Mel's Drive-In

(818) 990-6357

14846 Ventura Blvd, Sherman Oaks, CA 6.03 mi

Mel's is cheap and serves up good old fashioned diner food. It's fun for kids and the Mel's on the Sunset Strip is known for not only serving happy younger customers, it's also the hang for many Hollywood celebrities.  Note: Mel's is not what I would call a healthy restaurant for your kid to eat at. It's a step above Mc Donald's and three steps below Jack & Jill's. It's a place you can take your kid, hang, look cool and be seen all at the same time. Note: The outdoor part of Mel's is riddled with smokers so don't even think of sitting outside! Mel's isn't as good as Jack and Jill's, but they at least they have a changing table!  For this they get an extra star!

(310) 652-4444

120 N Robertson Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 0.37 mi

Here's a place I'd give four stars to if they only had a changing table in the bathroom!  The Newsroom is serving up all organic food!  They have a huge menu and this is a great place to star gaze being that it's right across the street from the world famous IVY.  The food at the Newsroom is very healthy.  This is a great place to satisfy your pregnant palate and give your baby an extra shot of health! Their drink menu is extensive. They are serving up everything from wheat grass to the most exotic yogi teas in the world.  The newsroom is going to cost you, but for the opportunity to eat food that isn't poisoned with pesticides and maybe even get to sit next to Gabriel Byrne (The Usual Suspects) ... I'd say it's worth it.  Yes, I've seen him in here savoring a veggie burger!

THE HARD ROCK CAFE
Hard Rock Cafe Los Angeles
8600 Beverly Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90048

The Hard Rock Cafe maybe a tourist trap, but the food really is kid friendly and both kids and big people love it.  If you're not a vegetarian then try the pig sandwich! It's the best BLT in the world. The portions are huge at the Hardrock so you'll always have something to take home and again, the Hard Rock Cafe is very kid friendly. It may be a little to loud at night for youngsters so take them here for lunch.  THEY HAVE A CHANGING TABLE!!!! What do you know? The Hardrock misses the four babies walking mark with me because in all good consciousness I can't give four babies to anyone who doesn't serve up free range and organic.

Jerry's Famous Deli

(310) 289-1811

8701 Beverly Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 0.31 mi

Jerry's is not only kid friendly, it's a lot of fun. The best location is the Jerry's in the valley on Ventura Blvd. This Jerry's has a bowling alley attached to it with a penny arcade. They have a changing table here and a huge over priced menu!  That's right, it's not cheap to eat at Jerry's, but they hand out a lot of free pickles.  At least you get something.  The chicken matzoth ball soup, the pastrami Ruben and the milk shakes are the best things on this menu.  The good news is that the portions here are huge so don't bother ordering separate entrees!  Split something and you'll walks away stuffed like a Thanksgiving turkey.  This is another non-organic restaurant.  So when they start serving up non-toxic foods they will get their forth star.
